Garden & Composting Program
In spring 2010, we built the garden with a lot of volunteer help and enthusiastic earth day celebrators! Half of our parking lot was transformed into a growing space for our experimental garden. With one year under our belts, we have a better idea of what will do well and how to grow it, so this year is very exciting!
Rosina is the garden ‘chief’. She organizes the volunteers, donations and fundraisers and instructs our most enthusiastic young gardeners, the children as they pick and browse their way through on an experiential tasty journey. From saskatoons and blueberries to snap peas and potatoes, we are growing it all, as much of it as we can!
Our newest addition is the expansion of our worm composting system into an industrial size home made bin with a colony of ten thousand worms to start us on the journey to composting all of our compostable restaurant waste!
